Rotorworx have been working with Xsit SA on the release of sterile FCM. The release is executed over contracted areas twice a week from 1 November until 30 April, with single releases between September to November and May to June.
Double releases are needed because of the shorter lifespan of the adult moth in the summer (4 -7 days in summer and 10 -15 days in winter) in order to maintain a healthy sterile population at all times. Releases take place with R22 helicopters.
